How To Make Banana Cream Pie?

A pie or cake that is filled with custard or pudding made up from milk, cream, flour and an egg is called cream pie. It can be made in many different recipes such as vanilla, lemon, peanut butter, banana, coconut, and chocolate. One thing in common in all cream pies is the whipped cream topping. It has just one crust and the crust may be a standard pie crust made from flour or the one made from cookies and crackers.

Banana-Cream-Pie-Boxes


Here is one simple recipe for the banana cream pie which is the easiest and yummiest dish of all kinds.

Ingredients


1 cup sugar
1/4 cup cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 cups 2% milk
2 eggs, lightly beaten
3 tablespoons butter
1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 pastry shell (9 inches), baked
2 large firm bananas
1 cup heavy whipping cream, whipped

Method:


1.Take a saucepan and add the ingredients in it such as sugar, flour, and salt. Add in milk and stir gently. Cook on medium heat while stirring until the mixture form bubbles. Continue stirring and cook for 2 minutes. Close the burner after 2 minutes.
2.Beat egg yolks and slowly pour some hot mixture. Again put the whole egg yolk mixture into the hot mixture. Cook for about 2 more minutes. Don’t forget to keep stirring. Remove the mixture from stove and add in banana and vanilla. Keep stirring until the whole mixture has a smooth consistency.
3.Add in some banana slices into the cooled baked pastry shell. Top it up with some pudding mixture.
4.Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 12 to 15 minutes. Chill for an hour.

Decoration and Packaging:

Banana cream pie is usually topped up with some whipped cream and slices of bananas. If you want to be more creative and want to add some texture to it, do consider some dry nuts like almonds to give it more color and texture. Honey with buttercream is also a good combo with banana slices. Banana cream pies are made in large molds just the size of cakes and they are also made in small cupcake forms especially for children.



The packaging of this cream pie is done usually in kraft pie boxes of various kinds. Customized packaging can also be done to give it an exceptional look. Large size boxes are required so that their topping which is of whipped cream doesn’t get destroyed. To give the display a different look and make it more tempting for the customers, pie boxes with windows are used. A little glimpse of the pie makes the audience to get hold of it as soon as they can.
