How to make Gold Candy Apples

How To Make Gold Candy Apples

There was a time when gold candy apples were only available in the market. But with the popularity of these candy apples, people have started making them at home as well. They are not so hard to make at home individually. 

All you need is to follow proper instructions and get the complete ingredients. At the moment, we are here to tell you the complete recipe for making gold candy apples at home. Have a look:

Ingredients:

•    3 cups of white sugar
•    6-8 medium apples (washed, dried & stems removed)
•    ½ cup light corn syrup
•    1 cup water
•    2 tbsp white food coloring 
•    1 tsp vanilla extract (or another flavoring)
•    1-2 tsp. of gold gel coloring
•    Candy Apple Sticks (or craft sticks or short dowels)

You can make use of the big granny apples. You can either take green or red apples it is up to you. 

Other Things You’ll Need:

There are many other things that you might require in making the delicious gold candy apples. These things are explained below:

•    Non-stick Spray
•    Rubber Spatula
•    Cookie Sheet
•    Heavy Duty Boiler or Sauce Pan
•    Candy Thermometer



Instructions:

1.Firstly, you have to mix the sugar, water, corn syrup and golden food color into the heavy boiler. You can also take a saucepan if the boiler is not available. You have to keep the heat on medium and let the mixture reach the boiling point.
2. You have to ensure that the candy thermometer works perfectly. You have to insert it into the mixture not do not let it touch the bottom of the saucepan or boiler.
3. The candy must reach the 302°F temperature. It will take around 20 minutes. There is no need to stir the mixture when it is heating. You have to be patient.
4. Now, it is the time when you have to make certain that your apples are ready. Ready means that they are dried washed and trimmed into sticks. When they are ready, then you have to spray the cookie sheet with the help of non-stick butter spray onto the apples. The butter flavor is not important, but it enhances the flavor of the candy apples. In case you do not have it then let it be. It does not matter at all.
5.Keep on checking the temperature of the candy. It must reach the 302°. When it reaches the 302°, then it means you have to remove the mixture from the burner immediately. You need to use a spatula to stir in the gold flavor. However, stirring must not be done so fast. You have to mix the ingredients evenly. In this way, too much air will not add to the mixture.
6. You might want to work rapidly as the candy will start cooling quite quickly. When you see that the gold shade is mixed perfectly then, you have to dip the apples into it. After dipping your apples, you can eat this delicious treat.
